Stump Grinding by Chapingo Tree Care

Stump Grinding

There are 3 main reasons to remove a tree stump:

  • When the tree needs to be replaced
  • When cosmetically, the stump is detracting from the surrounding landscape
  • Prevention – a rotting stump attracts invasive insects like termites and other beetles which can harm other healthy trees nearby and also wooden structures.

More about the Stump Grinding Process

When considering hiring Chapingo Tree Care Specialists for your stump grinding project, there are a few things to keep in mind. Our professional stump grinder is a self-propelled machine that uses 8 wheels to spread its weight evenly. But it is heavy! So weak or poor quality structures or fragile landscaping materials such as flagstone can be damaged by the weight of the machine.

We take great care to ensure the safety of our crew and to meet your expectations. For this reason, we ask a lot of questions about your stump grinding process. For example, it is important to ensure that our machine has access to the stump. Do you have a fence? Is there a gate big enough for the machine? Is there a path free of plants, flowers, brick walkways, stepping stones, etc. from the street to the stump? Are there any retaining walls near the stump? Is the path from the street even and level, a steep grade, or a slope?

The stability of the stump grinder is important for the safety of the project as well as how deep the machine can operate.

When you use a professional stump grinding machine, it will leave some dust and wood chips behind on site. These will disappear over time and are not removed by our crew. Thank you for your understanding.  The remaining woodchips could be used on your property, similar to the way you would use mulch or you can pay to haul the chips away for an extra fee.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us so one of our Certified arborists can look at your project and advise you about our stump management process.
